Fuel Management

Eliminate Fuel Waste & Theft

Live fuel data, straight from the tank. Track consumption, detect refills and drains as they happen, and reconcile every fuel receipt against actual usage. No estimates. No guesswork.

Why Choose TEQ District for Fuel Management

Complete control over your fleet's fuel operations with real-time monitoring and actionable insights.

  1. 01

    Real-time Fuel Tracking

Monitor fuel levels and consumption for every vehicle as they change. Live data from in-tank fuel sensors gives managers an accurate view of fuel across the entire fleet.

  2. 02

    Fuel Consumption Reports

Automated reports show consumption by vehicle, driver and trip, including the cost of fuel per trip. Fleet managers can benchmark performance, identify inefficiencies and control fuel spend.

  3. 03

    Fuel Theft Detection

Instant alerts are triggered when fuel drainage is detected, enabling a response while the event is still in progress. Each event is logged with its time, location and vehicle for investigation.

  4. 04

    Fuel Refills Data

Every refill is recorded with its volume, time, location and vehicle. This supports verification against fuel receipts and removes discrepancies between fuel purchased and fuel received.

Overview

What is fleet fuel management?

Fuel is one of the largest running costs in any fleet, and one of the hardest to control. Fleet fuel management replaces estimates with measured data: sensors report how much fuel is in each tank, how much is being used, and exactly when fuel is added or removed.

TEQ District reads fuel data straight from the tank. A precision fuel level sensor measures the tank, a CAN bus reader takes consumption data from the vehicle’s ECU, and a fuel consumption sensor calculates efficiency per vehicle. The system detects refills and drains as they happen and sends instant alerts when fuel levels drop unexpectedly — whether fuel is being siphoned, a tanker valve is leaking, or consumption simply doesn’t add up.

Every litre can then be accounted for. Fuel card transactions and receipts are matched against actual tank refills, consumption reports break usage down per vehicle, per driver and per trip, and cost per trip shows the true fuel cost of every journey. Driver behaviour data highlights the habits that waste fuel, so coaching can reduce consumption, while emissions tracking and EV cost-of-ownership analysis support sustainability planning.

Fuel management runs on trackloc8 alongside fleet telematics, so location, driver and fuel data can be read together.

Reduce Fuel Costs Through Driver Coaching

Driving behaviour is one of the largest factors in fuel consumption. TEQ District records speeding, harsh braking, harsh acceleration and idling for every driver, and links those habits to fuel use, so coaching is based on measured data rather than assumption.

  • Behaviour Analytics

Speeding, harsh braking, harsh acceleration and idling recorded for each driver.

  • Fuel by Driver

Compare consumption and cost across drivers, vehicles and trips.

  • Coaching Insights

Objective data to support targeted, individual driver coaching.

  • Performance Tracking

Monitor driver improvement and fuel efficiency over time.

Detect Fuel Theft as It Happens

Fuel theft is difficult to identify without measured data. TEQ District monitors fuel levels at the tank and sends an instant alert when a drain is detected or when consumption does not match recorded usage, so incidents are identified while they are still in progress.

  • Instant Drain Alerts

Immediate notification when fuel is removed from the tank.

  • Event Records

Each event logged with its time, location and vehicle.

  • Refill Verification

Refills recorded and matched against fuel receipts.

  • Sensor & Fuel Receipt Cross-Check

Tank-level readings compared with fuel receipts to confirm that fuel paid for matches fuel received.

How it works

How Fuel Management works

  1. 01

    Assess and install

Technicians fit the right combination of fuel level sensor, CAN bus reader and consumption sensor to each vehicle.

  2. 02

    Calibrate

Each tank is calibrated and tested after installation so readings are accurate.

  3. 03

    Monitor and alert

Fuel levels, refills and drains appear live in trackloc8, with instant alerts for anything unexpected.

  4. 04

    Reconcile and report

Fuel purchases are matched to refills and consumption is reported per vehicle, driver and trip.

FAQ

Fuel Management questions

How much can we save with fuel management?

Typical savings range from 15-30% depending on current operations. Our analysis will provide a specific ROI projection for your fleet.

How long does installation take?

A full fuel monitoring installation takes approximately 2 - 3 hours

What vehicles are compatible?

Our systems work with most commercial vehicles manufactured after 2010. We'll conduct a compatibility assessment.

Is training required?

Yes, we provide comprehensive training for your team on using the dashboard and interpreting reports.

How does the system detect fuel theft?

Tank sensors measure fuel levels continuously. When the level drops unexpectedly — outside normal consumption — an alert is sent immediately, with the time and location of the drop.

Can fuel cards be reconciled automatically?

Yes. Fuel card transaction data is integrated into the platform and matched against actual tank refills, so discrepancies between what was paid for and what reached the tank are easy to spot.
